Rogers has always been known to have insanely high price points for data in Canada. The same is true with Telus/Aliant/Bell et al. Canada has high price points for data plans. The iPhone in Canada could have been the device to create competition and drive innovation in this field - but with monopoly comes lack of motivation or innovation - the two GSM cell companies in Canada re both owned by Rogers. Whereas in the US many people unlocked the AT&T phones and went to T-mobile. JB:

I'm surprised Apple didn't learn from the US release that their customers want to be able to choose carriers instead of being forced into a contract with a carrier they don't particularly like. I finally came and checked out your blog which I feel kinda bad it took me so long to do so, but when I am usually online I throw most of my energy into my own site (you know how it is). I couldn't believe your before and after pic, even though I saw you through all of the stages it still was shocking to me. It literally brought a tear to my eye. I'm so proud of you for how far you have come and for keeping it up! Feels funny calling you "My little Brother" now that you are twice my size but just remember I can still kick your ass :) Hey Justin. Even when I go out of my way to the only shop south of Quebec that sells Fromage Boivin cheese curds to make my own poutine, it still doesn't taste the same. Glad you had a great time in Montreal! It's been a couple years since I was last there. It's a fabulous city, and I do miss it. Oh, poutine, how I miss thee! Comment on eHarmony Personality Report - Thumbs Up! by Justin http://justingill.com/blog/2008/06/04/eharmony-personality-report-thumbs-up/#comment-694 Justin Sun, 08 Jun 2008 22:07:54 +0000 http://justingill.com/blog/2008/06/04/eharmony-personality-report-thumbs-up/#comment-694 Heather: I did a bit of follow up reading and there are a lot of people criticizing eHarmony for not support gay couples. For a second I thought it would be a difficult thing to incorporate into a self report test but it's easy. eHarmony asks questions on ethnicity and religious questions - sexual orientation would be simple to include. Only just recently the psychology clinical tests stopped using homosexuality as a sign of neurosis/psychosis. They considered it a mental condition like schizophrenia - how the times have changed. Still a lot of bigots out there I guess. Heather: I did a bit of follow up reading and there are a lot of people criticizing eHarmony for not support gay couples. I'm an MCSE (I know, I know) but a linux dummy. Love the eee but love it even more with eeebuntu which I installed a couple of days ago. Either a suspend or running all the package manager updates (not sure which) broke the wireless but using your instructions to reinstall the wireless driver fixed it. Thanks again. Cheers man. It's always interesting to learn about another test and what/how it measures. There is no shortage of tests from self reports to ink blots that measure a different dimension of the human psyche. The "big five" is by far the most widely used and easy to standardized test to administer. The nohari and johari can be subjective which make them less reliable and prone to error. Very fun though! The test reminds me of the "looking glass theory" which states what you think people think about you is really what you think about yourself. When asked "how you think your friends see you" is really a different way of asking "how do you see yourself" but easier to ask because the question is projectable. In addition I would also add these instructions for users, as some may not be familiar with how to get a usb install going - http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2008/05/21/usb-xubuntu-804-persistent-install-from-linux/ The instructions with regards to initrd.gz replacement are a key process in getting things working right. In any case, this is a nice write up, and Id be specifically interested in what effect JFS and journaling actually has on the solid state drive. Nice instructions.
